Local

We want to improve food production, currently we import around 45% of our food in the UK. Locally grown food not only reduces food miles by reducing the farm to fork delivery time. Further enabling higher food nutritional content, as food loses it quality over time and the benefits diminish.

 

Sustainable

Growing locally, enables us to reduce the time between farm and fork to just 24hrs from harvest (compared to greater than 2-3 days, in some supermarkets). Ensuring optimal nutrition within our foods is a priority for the farm. Enjoying fresh tasting salads and vegetables should be for everyone. Empowering higher quality food for you, your health and the planet.

Fresh

Healthy food can only be grown from a healthy food production system. Aquaponics is a-part of that future; we can grow food with up to 90% less water with no chemicals. As Agriculture uses 92% of all fresh water used globally, EcoGro Farm produce can have a significant impact on our local usage. Providing oxygen and nutrients directly to the roots allows plants grow up to 30% faster. This reduces the total amount of land needed to grow.

Recylcing and Packaging

High resource utilisation and recycling are the hallmarks of Aquaponics, as the system is closed loop. No unnecessary water or nutrients are lost in the growing process, unlike on some soil based farms. EcoGro Farm veg boxes are made from ZERO plastic packaging, we have worked hard to innovate and use more sustainable materials, from FSC cardboard boxes and compostable produce bags with paper box tape too!
